Recognized by his peers as a prominent practitioner in the field of international arbitration since 2005, according to Who’s Who Legal. Todd Weiler also possesses a stellar academic record and a well-earned reputation for cogent legal analysis and innovative thinking.

Dr. Weiler was actively involved in the co-founding of institutions such as Oxford University Press’ Investmentclaims.com, the Society of International Economic Law, and the Annual Conference on International Investment Law and Arbitration, hosted in Washington DC by Juris Conferences since 2006. He has been equally active, over the same period, as an academic - teaching and lecturing across the globe.

In addition to his acclaimed 2013 monograph, The Interpretation of International Investment Law: Equality, Discrimination and Minimum Standards of Treatment in Historical Context, Dr. Weiler has published 15 books in the field of international investment law and arbitration, as editor or co-editor.

Dr. Weiler has also contributed to the advancement of international law through his pioneering work as counsel in NAFTA claims and ICSID arbitrations. For example, he was part of the team responsible for securing the largest-ever ICSID Award for an individual (Siag & Vechi v. Egypt). His work was also instrumental in securing arbitral awards that contributed to the development of fundamental doctrines of international investment law such as International Thunderbird Gaming v. Mexico (legitimate expectations), S.D. Myers v. Canada (national treatment), and Pope & Talbot v. Canada (indirect expropriation, fair and equitable treatment, and abuse of authority).
